Alice Notley has published over thirty books of poetry, including Grave of Light: New and Selected Poems 1970-2005; Alma, or The Dead Women; and In the Pines. Notley has received many prizes and awards including the Academy of American Poets’ Lenore Marshall Prize, the Poetry Society of America’s Shelley Award, the Griffin Prize, two NEA Grants, and the Los Angeles Times Book Award for Poetry. Often considered an important figure in the New York School, Notley now lives and writes in Paris, France.

Gabriel Gudding is the author of Rhode Island Notebook and A Defense of Poetry. His work has been translated into several languages and appears in numerous periodicals and such anthologies as Great American Prose Poems: From Poe to the Present and as translator in such anthologies as Poems for the Millennium, The Whole Island: Six Decades of Cuban Poetry, and The Oxford Anthology of Latin American Poetry. He holds graduate degrees from Cornell and Purdue Universities and is a professor of creative writing, literature, and poetics at Illinois State University.
